The Division One title has been won by newcomers Rochdale, losing only the once to Heywood although the games were closer than what they look on paper.

Meanwhile, Blackburn appeared to be cruising to the Division Two title when they slipped up in the last two games of the season. First losing to Nelson in a crunch top of the table clash, but then losing heavily to a rejunvenated Heywood team. Crusaders paid the price for losing too many games heavily, and are relegated on board count.

A similar story in Division Three with Rochdale losing two straight games to lose any chance of lifting the title, a feat which looked inevitable when they defeated Preston earlier in the season to maintain 5 straight wins. However, an unexpected loss to Chorley and an heavy defeat by Preston let Preston in to claim the title.
